I'm the navigator on this trip, so I purchased 4 charts and had 'em laminated, so I could write on 'em with a grease pencil. I didn't really like the level of detail on the charts, so I bought 2 fishing charts and had them laminate as well.

John Welsford, a professional boat designer, mentioned that charts are for vessels roughly 40' and larger, while fishing maps are for smaller vessels. Sage advice, indeed.
