I am prototyping boats for a 'Rapid Build' at the Depoe Bay Wooden
Boat Show in April. I wanted something a little more appealing than
the Puddle Duck Racer.
My criteria was:
- Chine build (no epoxy/stitch-n-glue)
- Cheap - no more than 2 sheets of ply and commonly available wood
- Capable of holding one fatty or 2 kids - call it 300lbs displacement
I ended up test building 2 designs: The Bolger Teal and Jim Michalak's
Toots. I was provided plans for the Teal, and Mr. Michalak himself
sent me the plans for the Toots. Thank you, sir. Thank you very much.
I more or less forgot about taking pictures of the Teal's construction,
so this photo essay deals mostly with the Toots.
