My sail has is cut so it needs little sticks - called battens - to hold it out and give it shape. I stepped on my battens after the last trip and tried sailing without them this time. Seemed to work.

We reached a sustained speed of 4.3mph using the 1978 2hp Evinrude. We reached 4mph under sail.

The most exciting part was when I decided to see how far the boat would heel over before I got really scared. I put her flat on to the wind and held the sail as tightly as I could. The wind pushed and pushed and she heeled over very nicely. When the toolboxes and such started sliding around in the cabin and Griffin's eyes got all big, I decided we had heeled enough. That was fun.
