Simple Design for a Cardboard Boat Georgia Pacific puts on a Cardboard Boat Race for the Toledo Boat Show every year. In 2013, we came up with a pretty nifty design that used almost all the cardboard and created a sturdy, functional boat. This design in plywood - modified to fit the materials - is called the Tik-Tak Kayak, also developed here. The transoms will touch when displacing 300lbs, but a more practical limit will be keeping the gross weight under 250lbs, more than adeqwuate for 2 (or more) kids, an adult and child, or a single adult. This cardboard boat is intended for a single use on calm, protected waters. The builder assumes all responsibility for the safety of this boat.
