When I jumped out of the boat, something poked through the bottom of my shoe and opened a shallow 1 inch long gash in the bottom of my foot. I let it bleed as I walked out to return the lures to the fishermen so they'd take pity on me.

I sterilized the wound, wrapped it in gauze, and taped it so the slash wouldn't tear open as I walked around. We laid the boat on her side to keep the sails from flogging in the wind.
