I was a little worried about our stop in Cathlemet.
I had anticipated a 15 mile run from Skamokawa to Astoria, not a 20
mile run from Cathlamet. I had been put into a great fear of Astoria
Bay by reports from nearly everyone who had an opinion. According to
them, every sailboat less than 100ft in length was sure to be torn asunder
and the bodies of the sailors would surely be left to rot.
Eh, big deal. They had said the same thing about most of the rest of the river as well. |
