The next morning, Ron and I set out to discover the wonders of Deer Harbor, about 12 miles away down the East side of Orcus Island. The wind fiddled around on us for a while, and this big sailboat was about to overtake us when we entered Presidential Channel and the wind picked right up. We had a marvelous run, shooting ahead of this behemoth and sustaining a speed of 9mph for nearly half an hour. The tide is a wonderful thing, especially when combined with fair winds and a flat sea. |
