I'll have to be pretty careful with my cutting for this plan to work. It'll come in close, at least. I really want to have a smooth bottom on this boat (I have had skids on all my previous boats.)

In every boat I have made with 5.2 Luaun, I have cracked the bottom. I wrestled with going with 3/8 on the bottom, but didn't want to deal with the extra weight. Plus, with the airboxes and decking, I was going to be getting into 4 sheets of ply anyhow (3 for the tops, 1 for the bottom) but I couldn't figure out how to use more than about half of that last sheet.

I 'solved' the problem by deciding to go with double thickness on the bottom. This will provide the stiffness I want (without extra skids or cross beams) keep the weight to a minimum, and use up the last sheet of ply.

Pretty friggin' brilliant. Now I just need to build it.
