Cutting the reinforcement patches is a real pain in the butt for me. I made this compass out of scrap so I could easily draw the round patches (that's a drywall screw at the apex - pokey enough to hold its position well.)

The foot patch is a pain. I lay the cut out sail on top of the leftover material and trace the curve. It's a By Gosh and By Golly method, but it works.

What I really hate is cutting out the clew, tack, and reefing patches. That's just dull repetition. I cheat a little now, and cut out squares a little larger than the patch dimension, cut the squares into triangles, then trim them to the proper dimension when they are sewn to the sail.
