That leech line is my reference point. I weigh down the batten and gently (so as not to bend it) measure out the X coordinates for the tack and throat. To get the Y coordinates, I measure up 6" from the bottom of the tarp and lay the batten along that line and repeat the measuring process (make sense? No? Eh, I tried.)
