Sea Trials of the Foreboding
October 2, 2020

We'd finished the skin-on-frame canoe and on a whim, I decided to paint it flat black. Keely thought calling it the Foreboding as a reflection of the political climate (For Boating - Foreboding, get it?) In any case, it was time to put it in the water and see how it moves.

Cascade Gateway Park is pretty much just a scum pond, but it is centrally located and has served as the initial launch site for almost all my builds.

Uhhh, Cascade Gateway Park has gone downhill, and that's saying something. I'm guessing most of these motorhomies are refugees from the fires we had in September.

There she floats! Yes, it is dead flat. It is designed for flat water and leisurely canoeing.

She does fine as a single-hander. Sits nicely on her lines.

Alex is taking to this paddling pretty well. The boat is handling fine.

I didn't really trust handing my camera to one of the hobos on shore, so I only have action photos of the Foreboding being paddled solo.

Art shot!

Initial tests were very promising. We'll take her out on the river next week.
