Laguna Cinco had been built for a specific purpose: To promote the Laguna class. She did her job admirably. The beach build went nearly flawlessly, she sailed rings around production boats, and through her fiery end, she brought more attention to her than had I allowed her to rot in someone's backyard. From her ashes will rise dozens of sister ships. Just watch.

A few hints for boat burning:

  • Use an oily liquid fuel, thicker than gasoline.
  • Fill the boat with some kind of solid fuel - wood chips, firewood, probably not paper as the ashes will fly away.
  • Set aside a good four hours or so for the burning, then have a good magnet and rake to clean any metals from the ashes.
  • Use your head. It can be dangerous if you behave stupidly.
