This boat is designed for an experienced, single-handed sailor. With a hull length of 11' 9" and a width at the bottom of 35", it is small even for a canoe.

The real trick was to find a sail plan that provided good performance in light to moderate winds that wouldn't dump the boat in a gust. The original plan for a 59sf Leg-o-Mutton on a 16ft mast was unworkable. The current sail plan of a 36sf main and 9sf jib mounted on an 11ft mast works very well. I had her out in winds over 15mph and enjoyed myself. The side decking and coaming really help to keep the water out and instill confidence. We've had her so far heeled we could see the center skid on her bottom and still never shipped a drop.

What I wasn't able to show in the pictures was the variable mast positioning system - the boat was designed to be used as either a sloop or a cat boat. The system includes the ability to position the mast at a variety of angles.

The bowsprit, cutwater, and dolphin knocker can be unbolted and removed in minutes. As the hull is less than 12ft long, Annas Discors doesn't need to be registered in the state of Oregon.

Annas Discors is a sailorman's sailboat. As she is stored fully rigged, you spend very little time at the docks getting ready or tearing down. She has plenty of strings to pull and looks like she sailed out of a Mellville novel.
