Prior to 1968, when the Rogue was declared a Wild and Scenic Area (10th one in the US), it was populated with a wild array prospectors, ranchers, and ner' do wells. This cabin at Whiskey Creek was built and lived in by some old coot who was mining for gold and is now on the list of National Historical Sites (the cabin, not the coot.)
