(click on the pic to get the full size) Step 1 was to make the boards I cut from an 8 foot sheet of plywood into 16 foot strakes. For this you must 'scarf' the ends and glue them together. There is another method called a butt-joint, but it is less elegant. It was about here that I noticed I hadn't brought along the boards that make the keel (I pre-cut all the pieces at home while I was planning this trip), and it was too late to buy another sheet of plywood locally. I decided to scarf what I had and do the keel the next day.
