Down from the mountain (Mt. Washburn) we were driving along and we saw a sign that said "Petrified Tree 1/4 mile." Sure enough, about 1/4 mile down the side road, was this petrified tree. There used to be 3 of them, but people picked the other two apart. That was one of the reasons they decided to make Yellowstone a park - to protect things like this.
