OK, I got a little ahead of myself. Wushan sits at the confluence of the Yangtze and the Daning rivers. The Daning river is home to the stunning, awesome, spectacular Little Three Gorges, which you can see by taking a 5 hour trip on a rustic sampan, learning about the history and geography of the area from a knowledgeable local guide. What the tour books don't tell you is that more often than not, weather and river conditions make this tour impossible. Ours was one of the many cruises that had to skip this side trip. Bastards.
