Baidi Cheng, the White Emperor City, will exist as an island after the dam. The book says that at the bottom of Baidi Mountain was a terrible hazard for boats trying to enter the narrow passage of Qutang Gorge. The gigantic Yanyu Rock was 100 feet long, 66 feet wide, and 130 feet high, and took a work team seven days to blow it up in 1959.
