Don't be too impressed with the number of stories,
though. To make it look taller from the ground, the top
stories are smaller than the bottom ones, so 8 and 9 are
joined together about 12 feet high inside, 10 and 11 are
joined and about 8 feet high inside, and 12/13 are only
about 4 feet high. That's right, at about the time Europeans
were learning to cook their food, the Chinese understood and
put into use the concepts of perspective.
