The guard on the end of the eve is rumored to have been a neglectful emperor who was eventually hung. I have no idea why he is riding a chicken. Supposedly he (the rider, not the chicken) acts as a reminder to the emperor to care for the people. Parker, our tour guide, said that was just a story they like to tell tourists.
