Look! A Yangtze river dolphin! Called the "river goddess," the story is that a young woman had boarded a ferry on her way to her wedding. Halfway out in the river, the ferryman was overcome with lust and tried to have his way with her. Rather than submit, the girl leapt overboard. Her exit upset the sampan and the ferryman fell into the water as well. The gods had witnessed the whole thing and rather than let the woman drown, they turned her into a dolphin. As punishment, they turned the ferryman into a fin-less black fish called the "Yangtze river pig."
